MATERNITY FAQ
Where does my maternity session take place?
Anywhere you want! I am happy to send you ideas based on the type of look you are hoping to achieve… park setting with flowers and trees, hill country vibes with tall grass and oak trees, a more urban setting with downtown vibes and beautiful landscaping or even a studio option with simple backdrops and studio lighting. So many options to work with!
What are your prices?
Please contact me, and I would be happy to share my prices and packages with you!
*Prices may vary depending on number of family members included.
How long have you been shooting families?
Since May 2007!
How would you describe your style?
I am a portrait photographer with a lifestyle twist. I like to create images that my clients are excited for that show authenticity and realness. I try to avoid being too posed and forced and instead create images that are natural and show true emotion.
Do you pose us?
Yes and no… In order to get specific types of photos, there is some posing required. I will put you in specific positions and then we will have a conversation as I shoot in order to get certain reactions out of you and your family. There may be awkward or weird feeling moments throughout the session because most people are not comfy in front of the camera, but use those moments to laugh at the process or yourselves… and THAT is when the magic happens. THAT is when you get genuine smiles and laughter. So, embrace the process and let’s just have fun!
Do you bring wardrobe?
I do not bring any clothing or accessories to your session. I leave these decisions up to my clients as each family is unique, however, I am happy to offer ideas and recommendations on what captures best!
When is the best time to book my maternity session?
I like to recommend we capture you around 32-36 weeks. That allows you to have a big belly without being completely uncomfortable at full term.
Should I get professional hair and makeup?
I ALWAYS recommend ladies should get a pro to do their hair and makeup for any professional photo session! If not both, then definitely your makeup… professionals know how to highlight your features in the best way so you show up beautifully on camera. Unless you’re a professional makeup artist, it’s difficult to tell what will capture the best… and it always feels like they put a TON of makeup on, but trust me… the camera doesn’t see it the same way. And, also… why not pamper yourself! You’re about to have a new baby!!!! Take some of the pressure off of yourself and give yourself this little treat to feel beautiful!
How long does it take to get my photos back?
The typical turnaround is two weeks. Prints and books can take one to three weeks to be delivered depending on the order.
What happens after my session?
I will send you an email with a link to your online gallery within two weeks after your appointment. You’ll have access to that gallery for 30-60 days depending on which package you purchased. You will go through and select the images you want delivered or included in your book/albums and then I’ll get started on the delivery process.
NEWBORN FAQ
Where does my newborn session take place?
I only shoot newborn sessions at your home in the Austin area. I like to incorporate your space and routines into your session to tell the story of your new love and growing family.

How would you describe your style?
I focus on creating beautiful portraits with a lifestyle twist. I like to show the realness of your family - so lots of cuddles with your new baby, swaddled portraits of your sweet new love, and if you have any other children, I love to add them in for sweet photos of the siblings together.
Do you pose my newborn?
Yes and no… If you’re hoping for a baby swaddled in a bucket or captured with props, I’m not your photographer. I keep things simple and sweet. My only “props” are the blankets we use to make your love cozy and any hats or hair accessories you have in tow.
Do you bring wardrobe?
I do not bring any clothing or accessories to your session. I like to leave that up to you as each family is unique. I’m happy to offer suggestions on what captures best, but Pinterest is also a great place to get ideas. I do bring a collection of blankets and swaddles to each session for you to choose from though. And, don’t worry… they are washed and clean for each session AND it’s totally ok if your baby has an accident on them. They were made for this purpose.

Does your price change if I have multiple newborns?
Yes, if you have more than one newborn to capture, the price goes up by $250 - $500. Two or more babies requires more time to capture and a very delicate balance of getting them to sleep and snuggle together.
How do I book my session if I don’t know exactly when my baby will arrive?
When we book your session, we will put your due date in as the “hold date”. Once your baby arrives, you’ll reach out to me to let me know you’re ready to get your appointment officially on the calendar. I recommend doing your newborn session within the first 3-4 weeks after their arrival.
How far in advance should I book my newborn session?
The sooner the better! I would definitely recommend booking your appointment once you enter your third trimester. The last few months before your love arrives get hectic and it’s easy to forget to book your session. I know so many parents who kick themselves for losing track of time and missing the opportunity to capture this special chapter in their lives. So, get on the calendar quick!
